but i disagree, tiers are simply a way of showing which characters are better and which are worse overall. it is impossible to perfectly balance 37 characters and if you don't believe that, then look at some of the tournament rankings. the last tier list released by the smash back room was based off of a months worth of tournament results and it clearly shows metaknight dominating tournaments, therefore he must be top tier or he wouldn't be doing THAT well overall.

edit: well i can't watch the vid atm but i'm assuming there's some argument that tiers are bad and when i do see it i'll prepare my counter-argument.

When i come to think of it if they did equally balance all the characters the game wouldn't be that much fun (IMO of course).

i'd still say aside from meta, the game is pretty well balanced. even some low teir characters like yoshi have good matchups against higher tier charcters. yoshi has a chaingrab > usmash combo on meta for instance, even bowser has more chaingrabs than dedede.

I think the tier list is most useful for people who want to be competitive, I've seen/had a lot of fights with low tier people who were really good.
